19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts
A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.
Presently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.
It is his first championship following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt after March of 2023.
Victory also indicates he has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 various competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
Medvedev's defensive approach and regular outbursts on court had prompted some to wonder if his ability to play at the highest level was over.
But the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an better service.
He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the last five games to take the lead.
The pair traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour victory, took control to push for a final set.
The opponent saved four early break points in a tight third set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.
Suitably, the winner secured the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
